Undeclared Goods - Soil, Seattle (USA)

Ilona Hakvoort, Matthijs Hendriks and Tanja Isbarn

May 5–29, 2010
Opening reception: Thursday, May 6, 6–8pm
Gallery Talk: Wednesday, May 5, 6pm

This upcoming exhibition will be the exciting first foray of SOIL into the international art scene. Matthijs Hendriks, Ilona Hakvoort and Tanja Isbarn, three Netherlands based artists, invite the public to reorientate and re-set any fundamental viewing habits by presenting works that do not want to be categorized or declared.

Their work is all about perspective, observation and perception. The artists see their work in the expanded domain of painting.

Hendriks uses the canvas as a 'neutral' object to tackle the phenomenon of observation, Hakvoort releases paint from the carrier by pouring resin and pigments, Isbarn will create a site-specific installation consisting of 1548 transparent objects.
